Primary Autism Training Programme Session 5 - Understanding Behaviour

Raising awareness and improving professional expertise in schools

Outline

Begin to understand differences in behaviours associated with autism and explore what might be causing behaviour.
Understand the ‘acting out cycle’.
Allow participants time to reflect on their own classroom practice in relation to pro-active classroom management.
Explore tools such as ABC and Behaviour Ice-bergs to analyse behaviour and think about solutions.
To explore a range of positive strategies for use in the classroom.

Description

This workshop will consider what may trigger a behaviour(s) and what steps can be taken to avoid negative behaviours and facilitate positive access to school and to understanding the expectations of others.
