How Governors Can Support Education for Looked After and Vulnerable Children

How Governors can support Children who are Looked After by the Local Authority and the role of the Virtual School.

Description

This course will cover governor responsibilities in respect of Children who are Looked after. This will include the role of the nominated governor for LAC, the responsibilities of the governing board and the role of the Designated Teacher, especially in relation to Personal Education Plans for these children. The session will also include ways in which the Virtual School can support designated teachers and governors.

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will have an understanding of the needs of Looked After Children and how they as governors can support the learning and achievement of vulnerable and Looked After Children in their schools.
