The EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018 and replaces the Data Protection Act 1998. The information Governance service aims to provide local guidance and links to good information that will help schools prepare for the new regulation.
Our resources pages will be updated regularly and bring together a range of guidance from a number of sources into one space for schools to access.
some of this includes the following
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) website which has a Guide to the GDPR, two new checklists, one for data controllers and one for data processors) and plenty of other information.
The DfE GDPR Guidance for Schools video - “Iain Bradley from the DfE explains how you can review and improve your handling of personal data”.
A range of free resources for schools and links to other sites are available on the London Grid for Learning website, including a GDPR audit tool (see attached), which we understand has been circulating among headteachers.
There is also a free General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Resource Hub on the Key for School Leaders website.
More information will be added to the resources pages as it comes available. We will keep you posted.
